The Last Light of Paris Sisters of the Shadows, #1 - Vanessa Lind - Vanessa Lind Books - ebook (ePub) - Livre

Description

Paris, June 1940. The Nazis are coming, and the City of Light is going dark. As German tanks roll toward Paris, museum translator Claire Beaumont watches everything she trusts collapse: her government, her sense of order, her belief that careful thinking alone can keep her safe. When the Nazis take over her city, Claire is drawn into the real-life resistance circle forming inside the Musée de l'Homme, printing forbidden newspapers, distributing forged identity papers, smuggling escaped prisoners, and stealing Nazi plans. Then wounded British officer Daniel Merritt is placed in her care, and against every instinct, something quiet and unspoken begins to grow between them. But there is no time for it, not with Gestapo suspicion tightening around the museum's circle. When betrayal strikes, it's her friend Elise, sheltering a family of her own, who reminds Claire what she's fighting to protect. From the shadowed galleries of the Palais de Chaillot to a vineyard estate straddling the line between occupied and free France, The Last Light of Paris dramatizes the true history of the ordinary women who built one of France's first resistance networks one act of courage at a time. Clean historical fiction; romantic tension without explicit content. Book One in the Sisters of the Shadows series
